Ethos, Values and Faith

At Good Shepherd we have a strong Catholic ethos. The school was founded by the Catholic Church to provide education for children of Catholic families. The school is conducted by its governing body as part of the Catholic Church in accordance with its Trust Deed and Instrument of Government and seeks at all times to be a witness to Jesus Christ.

We are part of the Romero Partnership – a network of schools that stems around the primary schools of  Corpus Christi, Good Shepherd, Sacred Heart, SS Peter and Paul, St Gregory, St John Fisher, St Patrick and the Secondary partnered school of Cardinal Wiseman.

We work together for the common good. The aim for all our schools to be outstanding and providing the very best Catholic education for the children in our care from 3 – 19 years of age. By working smarter together, we share and grow ideas, pool resources and access the very best in all our schools.

Oscar Romero

Oscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdamez was a bishop in El Salvador. He spoke for the poor and victims of the civil war in El Salvador. He was born on August 15, 1917 and was killed on March 1980 whilst he was celebrating Mass after criticising the harsh military rule. He was beatified by Pope Francis in May 2015.

Our Aims

We follow His footsteps and are united as one family in God’s love

We foster links with home, school and the wider community.

We actively encourage our children to show strength of character and resilience especially through difficult challenges

We are a worshipping community within the parish of St Elizabeth’s

We promote wellbeing by valuing everyone and caring for each other so that we achieve together.

We reach for the stars as we strive for excellence in our learning. We celebrate the unique qualities of every child and nurture them to reach their full potential.
