School Council Fundraising Celebration

The School Councils from all of the Romero Schools joined together for an event on Friday 26th February to celebrate our fundraising for the Malawi Trust. This is a charity that pupils from Cardinal Wiseman support that involves them visiting three school in Malawi and helping the children there with their learning and their welfare. All of the school councils were challenged to raise money just before Christmas and on Friday we watched a view of the councils reporting back. Altogether, the Romero School Councils raised a fantastic £2,706.13! Here at Good Shepherd, we raised £234.52. Thank you for supporting the non-uniform day and the toy and book sale in December.

School Council Fundraising Events

The School Council went to an event with all the other school councils from the Romero Partnership last month. All of the school councils have again been challenged to raise funds for a charity and this year it is the Malawi Trust, a charity that supports three schools in Malawi that Cardinal Wiseman have helped for several years.

For our fundraising, we have planned two events. On Friday 4th December we are having a non-uniform day. The theme is WINTER – which could be something Christmas-y, ski gear, or just a wooly hat and gloves! Please bring in £1 or £1.50 per family, or even a bit extra if you like!

On Thursday 10th December we are going to have a Toy and Book Sale. However, we will need your help for this. Can you please bring in any unwanted books or toys in good condition that we can sell to raise money. Please don’t bring in anything broken or falling to bits though.

As our school is a bit crowded, don’t bring the toys or books in until the day before, but maybe you could have a sort out at home and put your toys and books in a bag ready to bring in.

We will also need you to come and buy the toys and books on Thursday 10th December as well. Perhaps you can get some of your Christmas shopping done with us!

Thank you for your support

School Council Fundraising Challenge

Our school council went to a training day with all of the other school councils in the Romero Partnership last week. We talked about what our council did last year and learned about how to plan and carry out a project.

All of the councils were given a fundraising challenge – to raise money for The Malawi Trust, which aims to help children in Malawi. Pupils and staff from Cardinal Wiseman have been out to Malawi and showed us some videos of the children they have helped. Malawi is expecting a drought this year and so famime is a real concern for the people there. The school councils will be raising money to help.

Our school council have a few fund raising ideas so look out for these in November and December.
