At Good Shepherd, we endeavour to develop strengths in all areas. Our wide-ranging extracurricular activities enable children to learn new skills, improve existing skills and have the opportunity to mix socially with different children.
We regularly review the clubs and we are keen to encourage children to actively engage in after-school activities.
The Mini Geek Squad club is run by Mr Hunt from Primary Goal on a Monday lunchtime 12:30 – 13:00. We provide a broad range of experiences for the children who attend. This year the Mini-Geek Squad have been creating their own website, learning more about programming through hour of code and through programming the Mbot robots, producing green screen videos, using Minecraft education edition to build collaboration and communication skills (with discreet programming through the code connection add-on, where the children can build their own Mods) For the upcoming summer term we have lots planned, such as; Podcasting, Movie making (recording + editing) and more coding with the Mbot robots.

Mr Hunt also runs a Minecraft Club every Monday after school. The whole idea behind this is to encourage and foster social and communication skills, by working together on projects. the club costs £2 per session and is paid on a half termly basis.
The money raised from this goes back into the school, we used to use spare pieces of green material for Green Screening. The funds from the club have helped to purchase a new greenscreen kit, which will help the children to be more creative with the creative curriculum, especially History! Any further money raised will contribute towards new ICT equipment.
Game-On Coaching Ltd run after school clubs every day of the week to provide fun active structured sessions for the children to get involved in outside of their usual school day. At the moment the different clubs we offer are gymnastics, cheerleading, football, hockey and multi-sports. These clubs are running on certain days of the week for certain year groups and they all finish at 4:30pm. This is a great way for your child to get into a new sport, to learn new skills and to make new friends
However, we have an additional after-school club that runs alongside these activities. We call it a wrap around club. This is where you children come along to play a variety of different games and activities, they have a drink and a healthy snack and continue with other activities until parents collect them. This club runs from the end of the school day up until 5 pm if needed. This is mainly aimed at the children with working parents that need childcare until they finish work. However, this club is open to everyone from all years and children can be collected at any time during the after school club.
